It began with a coincidence too perfect to ignore. In 2023, over casual introductions and easy conversation, Teissia and Sarah discovered they had once lived in the same Los Angeles apartment. Though not at the same time.
When Teissia left her cozy Franklin Village home in 2011 for a life in New York City, Sarah moved in. More than a decade later, in the crisp mountain air of Mammoth Lakes, they met for the very first time. By the end of the evening, they were sketching a vision neither could shake: a shop that felt like home, a place where the heartbeat of the community could be felt in every detail.
Their journeys to that moment were anything but ordinary. Teissia spent over a decade building a global event planning company, designing weddings and celebrations around the world, before trading international travel for the quiet rhythms of mountain life. Sarah left Hollywood for culinary school, became a private chef and caterer, raised two children, and built a bold ceramics brand supporting cancer organizations.
Along the way, both faced personal challenges that shaped how they approach life and business. Sarah survived breast cancer, and Teissia navigated infertility. These experiences instilled in them a mindfulness about what they put into their bodies and what they put into the world. Their vision for Mammoth Mercantile grew from that philosophy: creating a place that offered clean products, organic foods, ethically sourced goods, and pantry staples people could trust.
